Establishment, Vision, Mission and Objectives

The Oil and Gas Engineering Department was established in 2010, which is one of the recent engineering departments of the Technological University. This development was based on the actual need of Iraq for the engineers specialized in the oil and gas industry because the oil industries represent an important support in Iraq’s economy.

The department currently has a specialized branch, the Petroleum Engineering Branch. The Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Technology/ Petroleum Engineering is awarded after completion of the requirements for obtaining the Bachelor degree, which includes the study for four years of studying through attending lectures and practical application in the laboratories , participation in the summer training programs, preparation of graduation projects and success in the various exams in addition to scientific visits.

The number of hours approved for a bachelor’s degree is 3030 hours during the four academic years and the number of units approved is 149 units.
